Synopsis on Goodreads
My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla.

But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He’s tall, lean and wearing all black—black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly.

Maybe we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It’s almost certainly going to be a disaster.

I received this book from Netgallery in exchange for an honest review

I’m kind of on the fence about books written in the 1st person perspective but i loved this book. Maddy is a loveable character who i feel in love with from the beginning. You do feel sorry for her with dealing with a condition that admittedly i know nothing about but you see that she tries to make the most of her situation. That is until a family moves next door. The book moves into a ‘doomed’ relationship between Maddy and Olly that you believe could never happen because of Maddy’s illness which sets you into another downward spiral of pity for both parties. Maddy and her mother have a close relationship that becomes strained later on the story which again makes you feel sorry for Maddy. Bascially this book is completely filled with a lot of moments where you feel sorry for Maddy. These are balanced with cute romantic moments that make my heart melt. I’m a sucker for a good romance.

This is a book that i could easily re-read multiple times, the layout of the book is brilliant, balancing out the writing in the book with cute illustrations and diary entries and email exchanges. The cover of the book is also beautifully done and i can’t wait til it comes out in stores so i can go buy it.
